New year’s resolutions are overrated. After the buzz of Christmas, many people experience a massive comedown in January- and by January 15th, everything you’d planned to do to make this year the best one possible has likely already been scrapped

If you’re somebody who struggles to stick to your resolutions past January, then hear us out- because it might not be a problem of what you’re striving to achieve, but instead when you’re setting the goals. 

Let’s face it, January is the most miserable month of the year. Christmas is over, the days are bitterly cold, the nights are long, and the month seems to stretch on forever. It’s no wonder your plans to be productive and successful soon go out of the window. 

April, by comparison, is a pretty great month. Not only does it bring about the arrival of Spring and (hopefully) some sunshine, but the longer days and warmer weather are great encouraging factors for getting out and doing more. You’re likely to be feeling much more motivated to make a positive change to your life in April, than you would be in January.

So, with that being said, if you’re reading this post, then here’s your sign to make some quarterly resolutions. Forget about those goals you set back in January- now is the best time to think about what you want out of life and plan how you’re going to strive towards it! If you’re stuck for ideas, here are 5 quarterly resolutions that you will thank yourself for sticking with:

  • Start A Business

If you’ve been toying with the idea of starting a business for a while, then there’s no time like the present for getting started. Most people let their talents and services go to waste because they let their fear of the unknown get in the way of following their dreams. 

It takes a great deal of bravery to throw yourself into starting a business, but instead of thinking about what could go wrong, instead turn your thoughts to all the things that could go right. Sometimes, a mindset shift is all that’s needed to get the ball rolling.

  • Strive To Be Fit And Healthy

Diet culture has changed for the better over the past few decades- but that doesn’t mean that you can’t strive to lose weight if you feel like you need to shift a few pounds. There’s much more of a focus on having a healthy body over a skinny body these days- and since being overweight can lead to a number of different health problems, if you’re feeling motivated to become more fit and healthy, then stick it on your list of quarterly resolutions!

If the COVID pandemic has taught us one thing, it’s that time with our loved ones is important. With lockdown restrictions lifting in April, now is a great time to set yourself the resolution of spending more time with your loved ones. 

Even just a weekly visit to see your family is enough to boost your mood, and you’ll be creating valuable memories that you will cherish forever. You could also get in touch with an old friend and see if they wanted to meet up. Chances are, they’ll want to reconnect with you as well! 

  • Have Dedicated No-Phone Days

While phones are great for allowing us to stay in touch with the world, there’s definitely such a thing as too much phone time. To compensate for this, why not select a day in the weekend where you turn your phone off and have some time away from technology? Your mental health will thank you for it.
