Empty

And then you stand there,
feeling as empty as a sheet
that used to hold two lovers’ promises.
Empty as the street
where they passed by
and sworn eternal love.
Empty as your lover could be feeling,
empty as your heart that’s bleeding,
empty,
because never again you’ll be whole.
