godless

i am godless, swallowing mid-noon incantations,
against
regurgitated prayers, kneeling
before
you
who saw the
carnage,
the bloodied
skin, stomach-turning, disgusted
you
who turned
away
from the
spill
you
who refused
to admit
pleasure at
the sight.

but i will confess this to
you
who did not
deserve
my ache you
who did not deserve
my bared throat you
who bared nothing so i could
bear your dawn, your suffering, your ungodly love.

( i wanted to believe )
