Having Potential is Not Always A Good Thing

To some, having potential is hope
It is being close to something you want
For me, it means that I’m not good enough.
30 already.
Dirty 30 they say.
Nothing has changed since 21
It’s nothing bad but it’s not good either
I’ve always been a “go big or go home”
Do it right the first time or not at all
Yet, I am always told I have potential
That B+ or A- type of woman.
So close but never there.
Starting to lose hope.
Wondering when I’ll finally be an A+
A potential turned into promise.
