Lose Yourself To Find Yourself Again

A walking holiday is an incredible experience for pretty much everyone. The chance to explore the great outdoors, venture off the beaten path and spend some quality time alone with your thoughts can be so therapeutic and relaxing.

I often find it quite hard to switch off from my daily routines and lifestyle, so a walking holiday along the Camino Portuguese was the perfect opportunity for me to recuperate and compose myself for another busy year of hard work.

I learned a number of things on my recent walking holiday on the Camino Portuguese and there were so many things that I benefitted from by embarking on the journey. Here’s what I learned on my journey.

I Had Time to Breathe

One of the best things about journeying along the Camino Portuguese was the chance to become at one with nature. The picturesque walk took me along the Portuguese coast, as well as through stunning parks and trails.

The chance to immerse myself in nature really gave me the chance to breathe and take some time for myself. I’m so glad I chose to walk the Camino Portuguese as I really felt like it was the perfect place to just breathe and relax.

The Camino Portuguese is an incredibly beautiful and picturesque place for embarking on a walking holiday. It really was the perfect chance for me to allow myself to unwind and take in all my surroundings, without being distracted by a plethora of documents and spreadsheets.

I Had the Chance to Gather My Thoughts

Being a young, creative professional, I often find myself working to strict and timely deadlines, often with a lot of pressure. A lot of the pressure I’m under is put on myself by me, so the walking holiday allowed me to gather my thoughts and reorganize my priorities when it comes to my workload.

By embarking on the Camino Portuguese, I had the chance to gather my thoughts and think about my priorities and where my true passions lie. I feel that the Camino provided me with the chance to truly think about what I want, and I was able to gather my thoughts while being immersed in the most beautiful scenery.

While gathering my thoughts, I also had the chance to think about the choices I’ve made and where I may need to revaluate some of the things in my life. I’m glad that I had the opportunity to walk the Camino Portuguese as it was the perfect chance to think about my life choices.

I Learned So Much About Myself

Yet another benefit of my walking holiday was that I actually learned so much about myself. I learned that I was more patient than I ever imagined when I was faced with the tougher parts of the trail, and I realized that I could accomplish anything that I put my mind to.

The walking really gave me the chance to get some much-needed exercise, which I’m so grateful for as I’ve really been lacking when it comes to health and fitness for the past few months. Along the way, I also learned that I’m an incredibly strong, confident and determined person which has made me even more excited to get stuck back into work again, now I’ve had the chance to reassess my goals and progress.

Despite the fact that I was on the walking holiday alone, I actually felt far from lonely. It was so lovely to be able to enjoy my own company in the quiet and quaint surroundings without worrying about impending work deadlines.

I Reflected on My Personal Development

One thing that the Camino Portuguese really allowed me to do was to reflect on my personal development, and this made me realize just how far I’d come in my life.

Not only with regards to my professional career, but also within my personal life. I was able to immerse myself in the silence during some parts of the walk and reflect on my life journey so far. It made me realize that I’ve accomplished far more than I could have ever imagined, and I felt so proud of myself for everything that I’ve managed to achieve.

My walking holiday on the Camino Portuguese was a truly eye-opening experience and one that I’m so glad I took part in. The holiday really opened my eyes to the fact that there are far more important things in the world than just what’s in my own little personal bubble.

I’m so grateful that I was able to take this opportunity to gather my thoughts, spend some much-needed alone time and enjoy the company of the beautiful Portuguese coastline and scenery. I would definitely recommend embarking upon this journey if you too are a young professional who just needs a break from the mundane, everyday norm.
