Oh, You Sad Little Girl/Hey, Pretty Lady

Then:
Oh, You Sad Little Girl

Oh, you sad little girl
In a “Star Wars” shirt behind faded eyes
Voids destroy your tattered soul as you cry
Yearning for meaning in the underworld.

You are a manifestation of what you learn
As you self-deprecate in little white lies
Swear an oath of ugliness unheard
Settle for less that your beautiful heart deserves.

A wallflower who sprouts alone
As coupled hands dance away in the light
You wither away before you bloom.

You sad little girl, you reap what you sow
As you plant your seeds of self-hatred at night
Never knowing fate will reward you soon.

Now:
Hey, Pretty Lady
Hey, pretty lady
In your red lipstick and Parisian pearls
You illuminate your entire world
A supernova of the here and now, exceeding the confines of safety.

You are the CEO of decisions, not maybes
As you freely give your heart to that lost little girl
Ensure that her manifesto is heard
But never followed again as you push it away.

A dahlia whose vibrant petals thrive
Into a storybook self-love 30 years in the making
As confidence overtakes the yard with its leaves.

Hey, pretty lady, your soul is finally alive
As the dust from your dormant cocoon finally fades
And you’ve become who you set out to be.
