Reflecting Reflection

You look in the mirror and see someone staring back, but is it you?
The curly hair.
The straight white smile.
She looks beautiful, but is it true?

When you feel weak you don’t want to be seen.
When you feel strong you repress your inner queen.
The loving broad.
The crude façade.
Yearning for confidence while portraying a fraud.

You look in the mirror and see her staring back.
She seems to have control, so what does she lack?
From no one but herself.
Insecure woman, denying her own wealth.

You look in the mirror and see her staring back, smiling.
The next moment waiting to be defining.
She leans forward, grabs her lipstick.
Hoping this message will be a quick fix.

And she writes “Be Kind to Yourself”
There is no greater love than that for oneself.
You are a fiery, aggressive, passionate woman.
Moving, confusing, exasperating woman.
Always deserving of love and understanding.
Don’t be the demise of your own handling.
