Rock Bottom

I was so used to feeling on top of the world

That I didn’t notice when I started falling

Slowly

Ever so slowly

Until I hit the breaking point

At rock bottom.

But, that is where things began looking up.

I can not learn to love the light

If I have not wandered in the darkness first.

And that is what waited for me:

Darkness

And

Emptiness.

But, when I finally looked up,

Light flooded in,

Giving me strength

To stand once again.

I am a New Jersey based poet who aspires to share my story through poetry and prose focused on faith and my journey with depression. I have overcome many obstacles and I believe everyone has a story to tell, even if they haven't found the words yet. I hope my words can inspire others to believe in their purpose and to find strength to climb the next mountain.
