Save Yourself

I don’t wanna get close to you
But I can’t pry myself from your grasp
You’re an ocean
And I can’t swim a bit
I’m drowning in you
You’re a rose bush
And I can’t hide myself from your beauty
But when I’m admiring you
I cannot protect myself from your thorns
You’re like a parachute
When I’m jumping off a plane
I feel safe knowing you’re there
But there’s still a chance you won’t open
You’re like the lottery,
I keep putting out everything I have
But there’s still a chance I may not win
Yet I’m still willing
Every time we sin it’s worth it
I’ll give you a new piece of myself
Chances are you’ll hurt me
Just from my experiences
with everyone else
But you’re a piece of earth
I’m willing to delve into
Willing to steer the ship
On stormy waters
Even if when we go down
You only save yourself..

My name is Shanelle Franceschi, I’m 22 and I’m a Starbucks barista. I love writing, mostly poetry. I love creating In general. I plan on going back to school and being a student in fashion styling. I’m normally very shy but I want what I have to say to get out there.
