What It Means And What It Doesn’t

I’d say I’m a bright woman,

I have some senses and some wits and

let me tell you

there is nothing more believable than when you’re all

wound up on nerves and whiskey and

you tell me how you feel.

I believe you like I believe in a punch to the stomach.

There is a hunger here, wanting to be the one who gets hurt and survives it.

I’m a bright woman and I know when

the time is up.

I’ve known the entire time. I let you do things on your own terms

and help when I can.

I even go to the store,

buy you the bottle of whiskey

and call it a gift.
