Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway

“Look how close you are to doing something epic…”

These words changed my life forever.

Let’s rewind..

My name is Demi, I am now a Success Mentor for Female Entrepreneurs.

But in this story I’m about to tell you, I was an anxious (and on my butt broke) coach.

It was January 23rd.

We (my partner Sam and I) had just quit our jobs, sold all of our belongings and set off to travel full time.

First stop was Auckland, New Zealand…some 10,000 miles away from our home in Wales, U.K.

We didn’t have a plan, we just had our backpacks and a dream…

I was SO SCARED.

I am a silent warrior, battling anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember.

So this leap of faith was something that definitely set off alarm bells in my overactive mind!

But I was done allowing fear to control my life..

So, six days after landing in New Zealand, I found myself stood on the edge of the tallest building on the island.

And the crazy part? This was my idea…

Before we left, I promised myself that I would push myself way out of my comfort zone.

What better way than to jump off a 192 meter Sky Tower?

When I got to the top, my anxiety took over, I started crying. I stepped back from the edge and walked back into the building…

The jump instructor started to reassure me. I almost didn’t do it…

And then he said..

“Look how close you are to doing something epic.”

It was like a light flicked on in my brain.

This is what I coach my clients, to do the scary thing.

I walked onto the platform…

held onto the ropes as I hung off the edge.

3… 2…1… JUMP.

I can’t even begin to explain that moment.

First, pure terror…and then, I felt elated.

By the time I hit the ground, I couldn’t feel my legs

I was shaking and smiling and laughing all at once

And in this moment I proved to myself that I was in control DESPITE my fear

That’s what I want the readers of this article to remember too.

Life can be scary, the things we need to do to move forward can be scary. But you CAN do it, despite the fear.

Push yourself out of your comfort zone daily. The further you go the more epic things happen!

And, surround your self with people who push you forward. That man at the top of the tower made me realise what i was made of. As Jim Rohn said, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.”
