This is Self-love encompassed by a galaxy of green,
grand, gracious, Grass
This nearly immortal plant,
Stood just a little taller in her presence
As if to say
“I celebrate your existence
I admire your persistence
Your Haitian Blood is fertilizing”
That surely would have been self-love (Don’t you think?)
To Thank God
And Declare, “je suis assez comme je suis”
I am enough just as I am
encompassed by this galaxy of green,
grand, gracious, Grass
This is Self-love the process- encompassed by a galaxy of green,
grand, gracious, Grass
holding your breath ‘til the camera captures the best parts of you
Swiping, liking, commenting, comparing
in less than half the time it took to make it look this easy
Easy on the eyes so you suppose her life is easy,
compare your worst to what appears to be her best, easy
From A-Z you too have mastered this trickery
Breath holding runs in your family
Sprinkled awkwardly on your family tree
It don’t take no Sherlock to solve this mystery
This too is self-love, the process
Self-love the caterpillar before the butterfly
The peasant before the queen
This is waking up the next morning
And still declaring, “je suis assez comme je suis”
I am enough just as I am
I am enough just as I am
encompassed by this galaxy of
green, grand, gracious, Grass
You are nearly immortal Queen,
You resurrect barren land
You feed masses Queen
Today when you entered that grass field to take this pic
No one saw but the grasses stood just a little taller in your presence
As if to say they celebrate your existence
