How To Be The Most Successful You Possible

The road to success is long and filled with obstacles, but the end-goal and final destination never came to anyone without hardships and a whole lot of work.

I was never the type of person to go along with life and let it steer me in the direction it wanted me to take me. I was the type of person who grabbed onto the wheel and drove down my own uncharted path, unwilling to simply be mediocre or “just okay” at anything that I did.

Here’s how you can do the same thing:

Don’t Slack

I get it – school is hard, work is hard, everything is hard.

Nothing in life is easy, and you learn that pretty quickly. You know the saying “dress for the job you want, not the job you have”? The same concept should apply to every facet of your life.

Getting by and doing the bare minimum may seem like a good idea for a while. Why take the extra time to study on a Friday night when you already think you’ll pass that exam? Why ask your boss for more work to fill that extra hour you have during the workday when you can just happily scroll through Facebook?

The answer: It’ll improve you as a person, a worker and an asset.

“Just getting by” is never going to “get you” anywhere.

You should dedicate yourself to working hard at everything you do. You should feel empowered to gain as much skills and knowledge that you possibly can.

Why? Because someone out there is already doing it.

Get Good At Your Passion

If there is one vital tip I could give anyone, it’s to find your passion and get really good at it.

This takes a lot of time and dedication, but it’s one way that you are going to stand out from the rest and eventually get labeled as an “expert.”

Take a look at Bill Gates and Steve Jobs. Those guys zoned in on something, worked harder than anybody else at it, and become the best at it.

If marketing is your passion then you need to get on Google and figure out the basics: What do you need to know? How can you learn them? Buy books on the topic, take online courses, do whatever you need to turn your passion into your career.

Talk To People

An important thing to know in life is that there is always going to be someone out there who is better than you – and that’s okay.

In fact, it’s good. There are people in the world who have already mastered what you might just be starting to learn, or have already been doing for quite some time.

Talk to these people. Become their friends. Recruit them into your network. Figure out how they did it and how you can replicate what they’ve already done.

Learning never stops. A degree or a diploma won’t even scratch the surface of what you truly need to know to become successful.

Learn About Other Leaders

One thing that pushes me the most when I’m feeling a lack of inspiration is reading and listening to other leaders and entrepreneurs.

It can be extremely motivating to hear how others started from rock bottom and worked their way up to be the success story they are today, such as J. K. Rowling, who’s Harry Potter manuscript was rejected more than 10 times before finally getting accepted.

Watch speeches and pay attention to recurrent themes and lessons. Pick out the quotes that motivate you the most, write them on a sticky note, and put it on your bedroom or bathroom mirror. Read those quotes daily and let them fuel you.
