ALWAYS PUT YOUR SOUL FIRST

Your soul speaks. Every time something feels off, or out of our character, it lets you know.  It is tired. Often, we don’t give our soul space to breathe when it is in desperate need of healing. We put ourselves aside and search for the next thing that can quench our thirst when, in reality, our soul needs us to sit. And listen. The meaning of self-love can be mistaken as being what we give ourselves on the outside, but the most tedious love is worked on from within you. In times of confusion, I have sat by myself and wondered where I can get answers and where I can escape to. When a failed attempt at love surfaces, when we are rejected, when our hopes fail us more than once, we must learn to step aside from what has caused a bruise from within. When we do not tend to internal wounds...

LOST AND FOUND

Almost every summer my family makes the trip out to North Carolina for a weeklong vacation. We’ve been doing this practically every year since I was two or so, yet every year is filled with its own unique sense of adventure. When I was around the age of fifteen, I was sitting on a the pier closest to where we were staying and I had just taken a break from drawing in the little notebook I carried with me everywhere I went. As I was just watching the waves and the people on the shore and the seagulls flying overhead, not really thinking about anything in particular, a fisherman looked over at me and asked if I was alright. “I’m sorry?” I asked in return. “Darlin’, you look like a lost soul if I’ve ever seen one.” I think I just kind of smiled and assured the man I was alright, just enjoying ...

5 WAYS TO EVOLVE RATHER THAN RESOLVE IN 2018

The start of a new year is a time where we are throttled into the arena of possibility mixed with uncertainty and the pressure to decide what we should change, give up, or resolve to do.  You may be scrolling through Instagram posts that are encouraging you to pick a word, a mantra, or a goal for the new year.  These are all great practices. But before you jump in, I have one question for you: why? Why do you want to change? Why do you want to show up differently in the new year? Why are you choosing that word, mantra or goal? This time of year we are inundated with messages that entice us to be a different, happier, thinner, richer, prettier, more successful version of ourselves. If you’re like me and follow yogis, coaches, authors and other inspiring beings on the various social me...

WITHIN THE WALLS

The Blaze that grows within the walls of my soul. How can I extinguish this feeling of inadequacy amongst my peers? Thinking and feeling the acceptance is near, but to my amazement that is further from the truth. The Blaze that grows within the walls of my soul. Struggling 365 days to obtain the acknowledgement of YOU who surround me. Why have I made the recognition of these humans so crucial? Today I realize self-acceptance is the only thing that will calm this Blaze within the walls of my soul. SUNNY DAYS

Sunny days are a mindset. This I have learned first hand from torrential rain. There is always going to be a storm somewhere in the world, and the hardest days are when that storm is raging inside your own head. Thunder booming in the background and lightening repeatedly striking the parts of you that make you, well – you. It seems as if the storm will never pass until one day it just… does. The clouds open up to reveal the bright blue sky that, to be truthful, was there all along. Maybe you didn’t see it through the downpour, or maybe you simply didn’t realize the power to calm the winds was within you the whole time. And darling, it was. So yes, sunny days are a mindset. Sunny days are the result of constantly reminding yourself to think sunny thoughts. Author: Renee Mills Email: evelyn....
