Poetry & Art

(a nameless poem about a name)

Did you know

when you get divorced,

they allow you to change

your name for free?

It’s like a bogo deal

when you don’t even want

one. And the thing is,

I do not have a name

to change into. A name

tells who you belong

to, who possesses

you, but what if you

belong to yourself?

And maybe I don’t like

clunking around

in old men’s shoes.
