I made it

The lights went out again
It was difficult to find myself in the dark.

My heart was racing.
I couldn’t catch my breath.

It was night.
And the white noise
was unable to lull me to sleep.

I heard Gran Gran sing softly through my spirit.

The sun woke up with gratefulness.
The rays peaked through my window.
The palm leaves rustled in the warm breeze.
The birds sang their usual tunes.
The rooster crowed.
I made it.
