Poetic Folly

I have a terrible

Tendency to polish up

What isn’t quite ready

Even mold and bend

The truth

I take a dull stone

For a diamond

Then allow it to tumble

Expecting for it to

Come out shining in the end

Like the time you leant me

Your simple words of

Affection

I’ve rationed every last bite

And when I’m feeling lonely

I pop bits into my mouth

Allow them to swirl about

And end up starving

With a craving for what

No longer is even there
